Details: 1972 Mercedes 250 Sedan, Green with light brown interior [Chassis W114, Engine:M130]I´m selling my beloved 1972 Mercedes 250 sedan. It´s a 2.8L (gas) 6 cylinder, dual carburetor model with a rare 4spd manual transmission. This is a running, driving car that was my daily driver in Southern California for some time. I purchased it in San Diego in 2006. It had been a California car since the early 80´s after it was relocated from its original location in Virginia. Last year I brought it back to the east coast when I moved to Connecticut for a job. Make no mistake, this is an un-restored car with plenty of this´s and that´s to work on, but it always starts, and once warmed up, runs well. It has about 95,000 miles on its 5-digit odometer (documentation suggests it´s gone around once more), approximately 5k of those are mine since 2006. It has never once broken down on me or left me stranded, even on long, mountainous summer drives in 100+ degree desert heat.The car is largely stock and original. The engine is all original, the lower-end has never been apart, the head and valves were serviced in the 80´s (documented). The interior and body are almost entirely original and there is very little rust on the exterior, none of it threatening the chassis. What´s not original are the following modernizations and upgrades:Electronic ignition (replaces the obsolete and finicky ´points and condenser´ ignition of old)Weber carburetor conversion (more reliable, powerful and serviceable than the stock Zenith carbs)Electric cooling fan (for efficiency and reduced maintenance)Electric washer pump (replaces the old manual foot-pump, which had worn out)Battery master switch (for safety and long-term storage)Stereo (because the original Becker AM/FM head unit wasn´t there...and I had no use for a cassette player)The other exception is a significant one--In 2008 I removed the 3spd automatic transmission which was in need of an overhaul and installed a functional 4spd manual (from another MB 250) with a new clutch, bearing and all new hydraulics. The conversion was successful and I drove the car as my daily driver for more than a year after that with no problems.In addition to all of the work mentioned above, I´ve done plenty of other work on the car as well, including replacing the battery, all ignition components, several suspension components, the rear bumper (chrome had rusted), both tail light clusters and a number of other bulbs and housings, the wood glove box door, valve cover gasket, brake fluid reservoir tank and grommets, all filters and fluids (I´ve changed the oil at least once a year), I removed the dysfunctional AC system, I´ve adjusted the valves, ignition timing, carburetors, and drive belts routinely, and I could go on and on...I have the receipts for many of the parts for reference as well.MANY spare parts (take them or leave them).Buy it, drive it, and just throw a few dollars into it here and there, or go through it with a fine-tooth comb and restore it to its original glory--I´m really hoping though, that whoever buys it gives it a proper restoration and can keep it clean and dry during the harsh New England winters, as that´s what this wonderful old car deserves.
