Details: I have for sale a 1978 Mercedes Benz 240D. This car was originally purchased in Florida and I purchased it in South Carolina in mid 2010. I have since performed many repairs as well as converted it to run on WVO, VO, or SVO. The conversion is the two tank type you start on diesel and when the car reaches normal operating temperature then you switch to vegetable oil then switch back to diesel two minutes or so before you shut the vehicle off. The Car isn´t rust free but I would estimate it is 95% rust free.Options:• Air Conditioning (yes it still works)• 4 Spd. Manual• 2.4L Diesel• Rear Defroster• Power Antenna (yes it still works)• Bundt type Aluminum Wheels (I still have the original hub caps if you´re a purist)The repairs I recall are as follows:• Front steering and suspension rebuild. Complete! All tie rods, links, bushings, ball joints shocks etc. . . Parts alone were over $500.00• Rear Shocks• Rear Brakes• Rear CV Joint Boots• Clean diesel tank and replace all hoses and filters• Complete drive shaft rebuild. Flex disks, centering bushings, carrier bearing and mount• Rear window seal• Rear brakes and hoses• Rear end gear oil replaced with Valvoline synthetic gear oil• New Glow Plugs (Fast Glow)The car runs good but it won´t win any races, It is classy, I get compliments on it all the time however it isn´t a show car it was my daily driver until recently and I suspect it has always been that. It is a joy to drive I am selling it because I currently drive over 100 mi per day and mileage is king. The 240D gets around 28 mpg no matter the fuel. My VW gets 50 so the MB is leaving.
