This was an Arizona car so it was never in a road salt environment. This car has been well cared for by me. I am a professional diesel mechanic and this was my wifes´ daily ride for ten years. It has been garage kept and mechanically sound. I would get in this car and drive it anywhere from California to Maine. I would use it for my work car but it would be a waste of such a fine automobile. It has 238,000 mi and is in very good condition for a 30 year old car. It shows normal repairable wear for a car of 30 yrs. The pass. seat base has a small tear starting and dash panel has typicle mercedes cracking. Clear coat peel at left rear roof pilar about 1´ x 2.5´ it has been that way for several years and is not spreading. is not noticeable unless you look for it. Around town fuel mileage is at a steady 24 mpg. highway mileage has been up to 32 on a trip. When driving back and forth to greensboro from Randleman using cruise set at 65 car will get 26 mpg regularly. It has minimal oil useage between oil changes. Details: I have a Mercedes Benz 450SLC Classic Roadster. Engine is a Bosch K-Jetronic 4.5 liter V8. It has a 3-speed automatic transmission. 139K original miles. Similar to the SL but this is a hardtop only and has rear seats. These are RARE and are very seldom seen. Factory claim top speed of 134mph. These 450SLC models are very solid cars and were only manufactured by Mercedes from 1972 until 1980. Only 3,802 models total were produced in 1976. This car has great lines and gets lots of looks. It is not a gas sipper at only 14mpg city and 18mpg hwy. It´s not recommended as a daily driver due to gas mileage but would make a great weekend cruiser. It has p/windows, p/sunroof, p/s, a/c, and cruise control. Nice after-market 15´ wheels & good tires. The engine is strong & transmission shifts fine. It runs, drives, stops ok. Car did sit for the most part of a year and was not driven much. It was driven 2 hours to Fayetteville when purchased with no problems. Spark plug wires definitely needs replacing. Power steering hose has a slow leak but the pump is fine. Brakes are good and car is drivable. Interior is black leather and it does have some wear. This car is exempt from NC inspection so just tag & drive. It´s a 36 year-old car, not new and it´s not perfect. It does have a few issues but I´m not asking anywhere near NADA values for it. This car looks good does run, drive and stops. If you´re looking for one that needs nothing then be prepared to pay 8K to 10K for one. I have basic knowledge of how cars work but I´m not a mechanic. You are welcome to bring one with you. I have clean NC title. The NADA value is $8,600 FR/LOW, $12,050 GD/AVG & $16,500 EX/HIGH. I´m only asking $3,000 VERY FIRM! Selling for almost $6K below NADA low book and I feel this is a very fair price for this classic. Please do not ask if I´ll take less, I will not. Engine & transmission alone is worth at least 1/2 my selling price. If I don´t sell it by end of March, I will keep it. I might consider trading for an older car.
